184040-74-2 - Introduction
3-[(4-choro-3-methyl-1, 2-oxazol-5-yl)sulfamoyl]thiophene-2-carboxylic acid, also known simply as Clomazone, is a broad spectrum herbicide. It is a residual herbicide that plays the role of glyphosate. The following is a description of the nature, use, formulation and safety information of Clomazone:
Nature:
-Appearance: Clomazone is white crystalline powder
-Molecular formula: c12h11clclcln2o4s2
-Molecular weight: 356.28
-Solubility: Clomazone is insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as Alcohols, Ketones and esters
-Melting point: about 77-79 degrees Celsius
- pH value (20 ℃,1% aqueous solution): About 6-8 (weak acid)
Use:
Clomazone is mainly used for the prevention and control of annual herbaceous weeds in the field. It can be widely used in corn, soybean, peanut, cotton, legume, cucurbit, Solanaceae and other crops, but it has adverse effects on gramineous crops. It acts as a herbicide by inhibiting the activity of the glyphosate resistant gene efflux transporter (RST).
Method:
Clomazone can be prepared by synthetic methods. A commonly used synthesis method is to use 4-chloro-3-methylisoxazole-5-amine to react with benzene sulfonyl chloride to generate an intermediate, it is then reacted with 2-aminothiophene-3-carboxylic acid to finally give Clomazone.
Safety Information:
- Clomazone is a toxic substance, should avoid direct contact with the skin, eyes, respiratory tract, etc., such as accidental contact, should immediately rinse with water and seek medical assistance.
-When using Clomazone, care should be taken to protect personal protective equipment, such as gloves, protective glasses and masks.
-During use, avoid inhaling Clomazone powder or gas, and operate in a well-ventilated place.
- Clomazone is toxic to aquatic organisms, bees, etc., please use with caution and comply with relevant environmental regulations.
