1-ethyl-4-methylcyclohexane is a colorless liquid with a special aroma. This compound is insoluble in water at room temperature, but can be soluble in many organic solvents.
Method:
1-ethyl-4-methylcyclohexane can be obtained by reacting cyclohexane with acetylene. The specific preparation method includes catalyzing the reaction of cyclohexane with chloroethane and metallic sodium to obtain 1-chloroethyl-4-methylcyclohexane, and then reacting the compound with copper aminoarsenate to obtain the desired product.
