4-(methulfonyloxymethyl) -1,2-o-diacetoxy-3, also known as MSOTf, is a commonly used organic compound.

Nature:
MSOTf is a solid substance, colorless or pale yellow crystals, with a strong pungent odor. It is an organic sulfonic acid ester compound which is soluble in many organic solvents such as toluene, dimethylformamide and dichloromethane. It is stable in air, but may decompose in humid environments.

Use:
MSOTf has a wide range of applications in organic chemistry. It can be used as a catalyst or reagent for a variety of organic synthesis reactions, such as substitution reaction, cyclization reaction, condensation reaction and so on. It is particularly suitable for sulfonic acid esterification of alcohols and ethers, which can be converted into the corresponding compounds containing sulfonate groups.

Method:
MSOTf can be obtained by partially hydrogenating sulfonyl chloride in hydroaromatics to generate intermediates and then reacting. Specific preparation methods can be found in the literature of organic synthesis.
