It has special odor. It can be arbitrarily miscible with ethanol, chloroform, ether, fatty oil or volatile oil, and is almost insoluble in water.
application
10-undecenoic acid is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes, such as tinea capitis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, and fungal vaginitis. It has the best effect on athlete's foot. It can also be used to produce zinc 10-undecenoic acid, synthetic & gamma;-undecenolactone flavor, nylon and other products.
Preparation process
At present, most of the 10-undecenoic acid prepared from castor oil is a crude product, which contains more volatile components such as aldehydes, hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, and high boiling point fatty acids and polymers Compound, 10-undecenoic acid contains double bonds, which is more sensitive to heat. When heated for a long time, it is easy to produce polymerization or oxidative decomposition. Separation and purification by traditional distillation methods often require long-term heating, which is very easy to destroy the structure of 10-undecenoic acid, which not only reduces the yield of 10-undecenoic acid, but also produces more new impurities, making 10-undecenoic acid The purity is not high, and it is difficult to guarantee the needs of medicinal and high-purity 10-undecenoic acid to synthesize other products.
Preparation
crude unenoic acid obtained from castor oil as raw material through alcohol exchange, thermal cracking, addition and saponification acidification treatment is directly put into the feed tank 1 of the molecular distillation device, and input into the first-stage film distiller 2 through pump M1 for dehydration and degassing. the operating conditions are controlled at a vacuum degree of -0.085 ~ -0.090MPa, a temperature of 60~70 ℃, and a feed rate of 15~20kg/h; then the dehydrated and degassed crude undecenoic acid is directly input into the second-stage molecular distiller 3 through pump M2, and the operating conditions are controlled at a vacuum of 100Pa ~ -0.1MPa and a temperature of 50~60 ℃ to remove low boiling point aldehydes, alcohols, hydrocarbons and neutral aliphatic impurities. Finally, the crude undecenoic acid with low boiling point impurities removed is directly input into the third-stage molecular distiller 4 through pump M4, the operating conditions are controlled at a vacuum of 100Pa ~ 0.1MPa and a temperature of 80~85 ℃ to obtain colorless or yellowish high-purity 10-undecylenic acid products.

Production method
prepared by direct cracking or esterification of castor oil. 1. Castor oil direct cracking method The castor oil is put into a stainless steel reaction pot, heated by direct fire, dry distillation under vacuum, the distillate is collected, and then fractionated to obtain undecylenic acid, and heptanoic acid is obtained at the same time. 2. Castor oleate methyl ester method castor oil (castor olein) and methanol after transesterification, high temperature cracking to obtain methyl unenoic acid, and then saponification, acidification and refining, to obtain the finished product, and by-product heptanal, glycerin and other products. Raw material consumption quota: 4700kg/t castor oil (medicinal), 1410kg/t methanol (industrial), 658kg/t sulfuric acid (industrial), 40kg/t caustic soda (95%), 940kg/t sodium bisulfite (95%).
